The HAM RADIO gives HAM radio operators the freedom to transmit in virtually any band of frequencies within the amateur band range

The HAM RADIO is a unique combination of the most innovative and reliable technology available at that time, which makes it one of the most technologically advanced systems ever built, and also provides our users with the ability to connect to virtually any HAM radio worldwide, whether or not they are licensed.

W1AW
is known for having a tendency to ramble about technical stuff, such as advanced antenna design, RF extension, (see below) on the QSL card.

nobody really knew about these little dipoles. And I did quite a few tests... some of them quite high gain... like 5.6kW. It just wasn't so much that it worked, it just kept going. So I went in and did a lot of testing, got some really good results, so decided to use this transceiver in a big DX... and was very successful, had been on the air since about 1981... It didn't get much more than 2.2 kW on the air, maybe less. And it was in there... and it got used... and it did very well... I was pretty happy with it. It went to the US, and some of the DX stations around the country picked it up, so I had this very good transmitter... In fact, I could get up to 10 kilowatts on the air with this transmitter. And I used that some.... I also used it for the transmitter on a couple of occasions to get up to 20
You get a Ham Radio, and you get a pile of wire and junk, and you make a little antenna for it and point it toward the moon. You try to make contact, but you can't get anything.

First we need to determine what a ham radio set is.

A ham radio set is a device designed for emergency communications in extreme situations and not available to the general public.
How much does a ham radio cost?

1. First we need to determine what a ham radio set is. First of all, you need to know what you want to buy. One commonly used style of radio is the portable transceiver. This type of radio can take batteries or it can use a belt clip or an external battery pack. A portable transceiver is usually small enough to fit in your purse. Of course there are other styles as well. You need to be sure you are getting the right style to meet your needs.

I've seen this happen when I've been in the area as well. It happens more often when the frequency goes to 14.273 MHz, but also at some other frequencies which I think would be considered normal. So I'd guess they're all using this channel though. So if it's not an official, but I have a feeling it's for the people with a radio license, then yeah. I haven't noticed

In 1999, St. Louis was the founding station of the National Association of Ham Radio Communications, a professional association of the ham community dedicated to protecting, maintaining, and promoting Amateur Radio. The NAS provides a platform for communication among various participants and institutions that focus on the public interest in and use of Amateur Radio.

you would need to do this quick math exercise:

900 MHz = 2.4 mhz = 8.3940 MHz 1900 MHz = 3.125 mhz = 10.3807 MHz

W1AW lives in a rat trap in Newington, on the side of a 4 lane highway. The place is a mess. It needs a new roof and a coat of paint, plus, the idiot's driving a 25 year old car. The guy isn't smart enough to stop for a simple sign, stop sign, or stop line. After being stuck in a t-bone wreck on Interstate 280 to Hagerstown, he kept driving like a maniac, crashing into cars, slamming into the van next to him, then driving on the wrong side of the road trying to get away. Then, he hit a guardrail, then swerved back into the traffic.

W1AW now again on 14.313 MHz — but U2AE still QRM’ing me ~14.273 MHz

The most common selection is a DXCC filter, typically built into the radio. For the best results, pick a radio with a quality operating frequency around 1740-1810MHz, in the 1.9GHz - 2.4GHz band.

You might be able to purchase a radio for $100 to $150 with only a few radio boards. If you have enough interest in ham radio, you can probably find parts for an inexpensive radio. We sell commercial-grade (or 'catalog') radios at a pretty competitive price point to kit-specific radios.

I'll also soon be turning 20, which feels weird to think about. As a kid I always used to think that people at that age were already on the verge of getting out of the hobby, having experienced most of what radio and RF design had to offer. But here I am, not noticing much of a difference from those times to the present, excluding changes to the state of radio (the introduction of FT8 and such).

Recommended Ham Radio License Application Instructions

1. You just need to obtain a license from the FCC.
2. You need to send us an original completed application form with a scanned photo (without your name or address) with your signature and the date you filed your application form to: FCC: 1-405 - License application 400006 (or your FCC ID number)
3. You can use our e-mail form and we will call you if we have anything else relevant that you need. Please don't send us the completed application via commercial e-mail. Your FCC ID number will be assigned.

you're home

beware of long-delayed echoes

You're cruzin' the radio band...when all of a sudden your RF signal falls through a sunspot wormhole and get transported back into a different phase!!!! However, you're OK with this though; because you packed a phase-modulation FM equivalent rig to talk on the local repeater

You hear the faint electronic beats of a Beat Frequency oscillator in the distance. As you tune closer towards the music of an AM broadcast, you come across what appears to be an out-of-band CBer that looks suspicious and most likely jamming.

In May of 2002 he was sitting in the municipal park on a sunny afternoon, and he was laughing at something on the amateur radio.

I remember Hiram Percy Maxim W1AW liked ham radio and he had this big antenna on his roof that was so old it was about to fall down. He would talk on that ham radio a lot. He really loved it, and he found a community there.

We are faced, not by the Russian Communist Party or its allies, but by a regime which, without breaking the most elementary laws of civilised conduct and decency, has for years, with scarcely a pause for rest, been systematically murdering the young generation of its country by methods as barbarous and bestial as any now being practised in Europe.

I was just a kid when I found that not all countries had the freedoms of the United States. In other words, if one went for a walk, as you would in Russia or Europe, you can be falsely accused of a crime, and, unfortunately, in a worse place, just go for them, you may find yourself in trouble.

A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.

The Soviets took very seriously what we were saying. It was a threat to the future of their country.

So I think that played into their decision to develop a nuclear counter-strike.

There’s this myth that you have to have a nuclear deterrent, or a threat of nuclear use. That’s the thing that a lot of people forget, is that there was a possibility of going to war.
An idea suddenly popped up: why not use the new Soviet rocket engines to launch the Soviet missiles from the Soviet territory into the United States?

Why launch a missile from a country that is falling apart, when you can launch a missile from a country that’s not falling apart?

And that’s when they started thinking, they’re already thinking, I’m sure, about Cuba. What Cuba did to the United States. So maybe they can launch a missile into Cuba, into the United States, before the United States can launch a missile into Cuba. So that’s the fear I think.

That was the idea. And at the time, even the Soviet Union was a little paranoid, or at least a little fearful.

My first memory was sitting in my fourth-grade classroom staring at the My World Map. It showed the red Soviet Union spreading halfway around the world. Eleven time zones! Red! The only color on the chart!

The Soviet Union was so big that it spanned two countries, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. My favorite part of this map was how a small little island of Germany could be sitting all alone right in the middle of all those countries.

It was my introduction to another big, scary country and a lesson in the ways of the world.

I came to find out, by the time I was in eighth grade, that the red on the map was not meant to represent only one country; it was just a red dot to show you where Russia was. It really made me uneasy. The idea of being scared of a whole country because of one small dot — that’s the definition of paranoia.

But I still didn’t realize how small and harmless the little dot was. It was just one state in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and was known as the Soviet Union, not the Red Russia.

The revolution was the voice of the people.

It was their shout of rage against the injustice and oppression of life.

And tell them, comrade, I do not bring any message.

And beyond in the background the city stretches endless, noisy,

bright, like an ancient, giant city

where cowards have no place.

"Tomorrow", you say,

and in this small procrastination awaits the whole

the huge never.

Comrades! Fellow revolutionaries! The inevitable time has come,

one night, we will upend the social order of humanity!
